Vermont

Yesterday drove away for a 6 hour ride (there and back) to drop off my beloved so he can gain a certification for working a certain field. Wow was it gorgeous up there. The state of agriculture and farming galore. It's wonderful. I only got to see the highway view including some minor cities/towns. We stopped at one brick oven pizza place to be amazed by the quality of ingredients, local produce. Brick oven veggie pizza with no cheese, absolutely stunning. Old buildings, old places, its a glistening sight for me. I watched Tiny House Hunters this morning. I love the tiny houses, I dream of living in one. It seems very perfect-build your tiny dream house for cheap, or just settle into a pre-made one. The only concern is where to put it...since I would really enjoy having a garden! Cottages strike my fancy. I love a well built brick house too.

Thank your bills

I want to inform all of how critical it is to be thankful all year round. Whatever you believe in, being grateful for the things you have can change your life. Without noticing the minor to big accomplishments I have achieved, I feel angry, frustrated, sad, or I start to brood. Everything you own and everything you have set out to do and have done are big milestones in your world. Celebrate the small things and you will feel abundant. You can do whatever it is you want to do. As long as you have some type of flat board above you, food in your stomach, and warm blankets to lull yourself to sleep, you are prosperous. Remember that there is always someone out there in a worse position than you (to put yourself in perspective of how okay you are). There isn't anything you can't do, really. But make sure your wishes align with the goodness of others and you will be happy too.      It makes me so cheery and hopeful when I look back at the things I have done and the place i'm a...

Some Dismay

Ventured to some stores alone yesterday with my mom's Dodge to find beet seeds. I went to Tractor Supply Co. but they had ran out/ brought their seed cart into the back of their store. Meanwhile I purchased next year's farmer's almanac-which I have never used before. Drove down to Home Depot, searched their gardening area but the shelves where the seeds were a few months ago was gone...I made sure and asked the employees if they didn't sell them anymore, he replied with a no...BUT I found a nifty box of an organic mushroom kit! So I grabbed that for $10, the man who sold me the kit had cool metal piercings in his ear. I then go to walmart mainly to cash my check, but I wanted to stop by their garden center. No seeds, just plants & tools....a Venus fly trap , that needs my help(turning black from too many nutrients)? You're mine! ~~~~~~Bought my handsome Venus and a water gauge....and c.50 pies...While there I saved $10 for trying some chevre up the street from ...

Little Plunders are Okay...

#1: Woke up at 7:50 when I'd rather be up earlier. #2: Spilled water on my herbs that were drying. #3: Laced up my boots, took them off, laced them up, took them off, laced them up again. Number 3 is because I thought I needed to do the horse stall but found out someone already done it, came inside, put on shoes to get to garden, went inside for chores, then put them on again to go outside AGAIN. Gah I'd rather do it all in one run since it's a pain lacing up my boots xP, that's just what's gonna happen when I become a busy person. ~~~~~~~~~I also wish to utilize the time I have each day to do all I can without missing anything or GETTING SIDETRACKED .  Like scrapping up a quick ritual for the Full Moon before i head off to work. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The plants that live in the backyard:             Smooth Sumac, Blackberry, Goldenrod, Pine, Beech, Birch, Oak, Maple, Blueberry, Partridge Be...

-Follow up log for a few* days missed-

Being natural and basic for me is feeling closer to my craft. I know what I do now and will continue to do is better for nature and even for an animal like myself................On another note I hope to encourage friends on this web log, new friends at that, any one who would like to talk I am eager to speak with y'all. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mold fascinates me. Fungi does too. I've had 9 strawberries get devoured by bacteria and tiny fungi for a week now. My Other tells me they look like grizzly bears. They have a Russian Blue (cat breed) color and texture to them. I keep my distance though since I have no clue whether spores will shoot out at me. >.> The full moon has had me at a fine daze for the past few days. She is huge staring down at me, with clouds brushing by her. It's really intriguing how for so many centuries our ancestors, including all who've walked this earth, have seen our companion planet. The...

Steadfast goals

I have many plans for myself to accomplish. I want to grow a mushroom garden. I want to have a job that I am happy or ok with doing-to gain my my main income. I want to grow enough food in the growing seasons and preserve them to last me throughout winter-my own food source, not bought by people all over the USA. I want to try WWOOFing. I want to own and play the harp. All of these adventures will happen, and of course I have to stay patient and determined.

Late summer

It feels pretty great to wake up with purpose. I get up, make the horse's stall ready, steep some tea and tend to my growing garden. My significant other is leaving for Vermont soon, with no one else wanting to care for his plants, i decided to step in, to turn my dead black thumb into a rejuvinated green one. I have wished for a green thumb for too long. He gave me his huge stockpile of mint , a bushel of basil , a fake rosemary, a strange sage nearly dead ,  wee strawberry runners, and gave me his wild pur slane that i knew was edible. All is going well, with me learning valuable information in the process. I have also transplanted cuttings of farmer's market veggies to a small dish of water, to regain roots and grow new stalks. Along the way i have dried many seeds of the plants that i have been eating- locally grown, found wild, or garden harvested.           A long term goal of mine is to live old-fashioned/naturally in my own way. The self-suffici...

My Favorite Coffee

Last night I came home from work around 9:30, to thunder and maddening lightening terrifying my pups. No other family member home-off a night to spend with a friend. It poured and misted on and off. I went upstairs, musterd my yellow Labrador, my cat Max and my mother's chihuahua Taco. I wasn't inclined to do much but read my book by the candlelight, the house still had power but i wanted to keep safe with as little electricity on as possible. With my beeswax candles lit and the frightened animals in my room i began to read to them. Their panting and antsy-ness settled more and more as i calmly read my book aloud. I am glad that i could soothe them:) P.S- The book is entitled Thoreau's Garden by Peter Loewer. I have nearly gotten through half the book, adoring each tidbit of Henry David Thoreau and the descriptions of outstanding garden specimens. This morning: little trace of any storm...I awoke at 9am, completed some chores and water heated yesterday's cold coffee (...

Weird Surroundings...

I'm excited about this opportunity to share my experiences with an audience i hope to grow soon. I'm a bit weary about the new-ness to it. I'm even more happy to remember that fall is coming up quite soon, so time for long sleeves and comfortable weather. Welcome to my blog! :)
